National Union of Students

The NUS is the peak representative and advocacy body for higher education students in Australia, representing over 1,000,000 students. We were established on the principles of student unionism and our primary objectives include working for the interest of students in improving quality of education, academic freedom, access to education, social security, health and welfare.

What We Do

Student Rights

The NUS focuses on the advancement of student perspectives on political and social issues through our campaigns.

Welfare

The NUS advances the interests of students in the fields of social security, health, welfare, cultural activities and sport.

Representation

The NUS has a membership of 22 student organisations and represents over 1 Million students across Australia. We work for the right of all people to a quality education on an equal basis.
